Junior Steel Detailer

POSITION SUMMARY

‍

Responsible for drafting and modelling residential structural features using architectural, engineering, and framing documentation under the direction of the drafting managers.

‍

Duties and Responsibilities‍

• Preparing 2D overlays with AutoCAD
• Use Tekla with standard working proficiency
• Model and detail autonomously
• Reconcile estimated takeoffs against construction documents
• Generate variation requests as required
• Manage multiple jobs
• Maintain drawing registers and document control records
• Liaise with internal and external personnel to clarify project requirements and resolve drafting-related queries
• Assist with detailing and issuing work prepared by senior drafters when required
• Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy and adherence to project standards
• Generate report, NC data, and shop drawings for processing and fabrication

• Ability to read architectural, engineering, and framing documentation

• Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally

• Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members
• Time management/organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within the time frame given and carry out administrative duties within the portfolio in an efficient and timely manner

• Current Australian Driver’s Licence
• White Card (can be obtained after employment)

Desirable Skills and Experience
‍

• Exposure to the building and construction industry would be an advantage
• Tekla and AutoCAD experience would be beneficial; however, in-house training will be provided
