Experienced Structural Steel Detailer – Residential & Commercial

two experienced Structural Steel Detailers with experience in Tekla Structures – one to focus on
residential projects and one for commercial projects. Join our skilled team in Adelaide’s northern suburbs
and work on diverse, challenging projects using advanced Tekla and AutoCAD skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

‍

Responsible for independently modelling, detailing, and managing structural steel drafting projects. Ensure
accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of technical documentation while collaborating with internal and
external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create detailed steel fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures autonomously.Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings along with technical instructions for accurate steel detailing.

• Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Manage designated projects with minimal supervision.

• Manage multiple projects, including end-to-end drafting workflows.

• Generate reports, NC data, and shop drawings for processing and fabrication.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company practices throughout the detailing process.

• Reconcile estimated takeoffs against construction documents.

• Maintain drawing registers and document control records.

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and quality of steel detailing.

• Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to resolve drafting queries.

• Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams to discuss project specifications and progress.

• When required, attend site visits to gather data, understand project requirements, and ensure the smooth execution of projects.

• Coach, mentor, and support junior and intermediate drafters (Residential role focus).

Essential Skills and Experience‍

• Proven experience in residential and/or commercial steel detailing, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.Experience and proficiency in using Tekla Structures and AutoCAD.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and framing documentation.

• High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Willingness to visit project sites and participate in meetings as needed.

• Project management and organisational skills.

• Design awareness and practical problem-solving skills.

• Teamwork and mentoring experience.

• Current Australian Driver’s Licence.

• White Card (can be obtained after employment).

Desirable Skills and Experience‍

• Previous experience in steel fabrication and detailing across multiple project types.Tertiary qualification or trade background in engineering, drafting, or construction.

• Exposure to the building and construction industry.
