Back for our second year, Stevens Group made another strong impression at the 2025
Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo, held at the Adelaide Showground on May 10 and
11. And with nearly 18,000 attendees over two days, it’s safe to say we had no shortage of
curious minds stopping by.

Standing Out in a Sea of Stalls

Our team came prepared – and not just with information. Over 10 Stevens team members
were on deck to chat about the realities of working in the structural steel industry. From
career-seeking school leavers to adults exploring a change in direction, the conversations
were genuine, personal, and packed with insight.

The virtual welding machine once again proved a hit, while our drafters found themselves
fielding enthusiastic questions from students drawn to the technical and creative sides of
construction.

And yes – our bright red Stevens caps made their first-ever appearance this year… and
were gone before we knew it. By midday Friday, we’d completely run out – unintentionally
becoming one of the most popular merch stops of the entire expo.

It’s About More Than Recruitment

For us, the expo isn’t just about filling roles. It’s about planting seeds. Introducing young
people to real career paths, showing the human side of our industry, and opening the door to
conversations that could shape someone's future.

Friday’s crowd was massive – over 10,000 students moved through the halls, guided by
teachers (nearly 900 of them) keen to help students find direction. Saturday was quieter, but
ideal for deeper discussions with parents, older students and adult jobseekers.

Real People, Real Pathways

From the moment the doors opened, we saw a steady stream of students – some wide-eyed
and unsure, others already asking smart questions about apprenticeships, trades, and
drafting. It reminded us just how powerful it can be to show up as real people with real
experience.

A huge thank you to everyone who came by – especially familiar faces from St Patrick’s
Technical College and the many new ones we met for the first time.

Until Next Time

As we packed down our stand on Saturday afternoon, the feeling was clear: this event
matters. It matters to the young people looking for purpose, to the families searching for
answers, and to industries like ours that rely on future talent to keep building.

We’re proud to have been part of the 2025 Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo – and
we’re already looking forward to next year.
